The United Nations Association-Brooklyn Chapter is proud to announce that its 7th Annual UN Day event will be held virtually on Thursday, October 21st, 2021 from 7:00pm-8:00pm (EST). It's in celebration of the UN's 76th Anniversary.


The UN Day theme is Building U.S. Foreign Policy Back Better Through Support for the UN (Repairing the Damage of the Trump Years)


Keynote Speaker: Yasmine Sherif (LLM)


Yasmine Sherif is the Director of Education Cannot Wait (ECW) - a global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises. A human rights lawyer (LL.M), she has 30years of experience with the United Nations and civil society. She has served in crisis-affected countries and regions in Africa, Asia, Balkans and the MiddleEast, and in New York and Geneva. Ms. Sherif has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University (LIU). She is the author of the book, The Case for Humanity: An Extraordinary Session, launched at the United Nations in 2015. In 2017, she received the prestigious annual award “Sweden’s UN Friend of the Year” and in 2020 she was awarded the Global Educator Award in the UN Friend of the Year” and in 2020 she was awarded the Global Educator Award in the US.



This event will be one hour of substance on key UN global education issues and what you can do to help. We will have a question and answer period where you can learn more from Ms. Sherif’s expertise and advocacy.
